The fact that $5.99 gets you a backordered name (so the already reduced registration fee, you won’t pay a cent over $5.99 for now) at Unstoppable is nuts and it’s a shame more people aren’t talking about this. Of course, since the registration price will go up to $7.49 as of next month, this will change but even at $7.49, it’s a steal and they are losing money by providing this.
In fact, simple logic tells you they lose more than with regular registrations, since they also put system resources at your disposal to facilitate the process without charging anything extra for this.
For now, you can only backorder pending delete names (which is what most folks would have done anyway), they will eventually let you backorder any domain and it works like this:
Step 1) Type the pending delete name you want to get into the UnstoppableDomains registration bar, just like when registering any other domain
Step 2) You will see the backorder link that you can click and will then be asked if you want to confirm the backorder, literally takes a few seconds. Again, you will only see this option for pending delete domains, don’t be surprised if you type in any other name and it doesn’t work
Step 3) Wait to see if the backorder has been successful (you will be notified via email and will know whether it has or hasn’t). If it hasn’t, the fee gets refunded and that’s that
Do keep expectations reasonable, though, because you can’t expect something at this price level to compete with Dropcatch and their one gazillion registrars. But for anything other than these competitive domains, the UnstoppableDomains backorders are more than fine.
